Financial Aid

A variety of financial assistance is available at Bowling Green Technical College for eligible students pursuing approved certificates, diplomas and degrees. Financial Aid Awards are based on student's financial need. Need is defined as the difference between a student's cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies and miscellaneous expenses), minus the amount the student and his/her family is expected to contribute to the cost of the education as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

More information is available by clicking here or by contacting one of the BGTC Financial Aid Officers:

Rick W. Wilson, Director of Financial Aid

Mike Hills, Financial Aid Coordinator

Apply for financial aid by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is necessary to determine you eligibility for many types of federal and state aid! For fastest results submit your application over the internet at

Link to FAFSA on the Web at http://fafsa.ed.gov/

You will receive results from your FAFSA a few weeks after it is submitted, and each school you list on the FAFSA will receive results electronically. The FAFSA school code for Bowling Green Technical College is 005271. The Bowling Green Technical College Financial Aid Office will contact you when your information is received and inform you of your potential eligibility or any necessary action you are required to perform.

You should submit your FAFSA several weeks prior to your initial enrollment date! The earlier you apply the more "free" financial aid you may qualify for.

The "Priority" deadline for Kentucky residents is March 15. Apply as soon as possible after you have completed your federal tax return.

Types of Financial Aid

  • Federal Pell Grants are non-repayable federal grants based on the student's calculated financial need. Amounts vary according to individual student's level of financial need.

  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are non-repayable federal grants available to eligible recipients who demonstrate exceptional financial need.

  • KY College Access Program Grants (KHEAA CAP) are non-repayable state grants. These are available to eligible recipients who demonstrate financial need and complete the FAFSA while funds are available.

  • Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP) provides low interest loans to eligible students who need additional assistance with educational expenses. Bowling Green Technical College does not offer loans to students automatically! Loans are available, but you must complete a BGT Student Loan Application after your FAFSA has been processed. Loans must be repaid when you graduate or stop attending school at least half time.

  • Federal College Work-Study Program (FCWS) provides part-time employment to eligible students demonstrating financial need and having the appropriate skills. Students are paid at a rate just above federal minimum wage.

  • KCTCS/Bowling Green Technical College Campus Scholarships are available to students who meet eligibility requirements and submit the appropriate application by the announced deadline. Additional scholarship applications are available in the Financial Aid Office from time to time. Check your student email for announcements about scholarships and other financial aid issues.

  • Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarships (KEES) are available to recent high school graduates who earned KEES while in high school. Your KEES account is available at www.kheaa.com. No application is necessary for KEES. It will be disbursed to you automatically after you enroll in college.

  • Veterans Educational Benefits (VA) are available to qualified students enrolled in VA approved programs of study. For more information, see veteran's educational information section.
