Tutoring - TLC

The Learning Center

Need help with math or writing? The Learning Center is here for you! 

Tutoring is available Monday - Friday by appointment, though walk-ins are accommodated when possible. TLC is committed to helping you succeed in your studies at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College by providing a number of free workshops, knowledgeable part-time tutors, and two experienced instructional specialists. Fall 2015 Hours

Writing help is available on the main campus in Room C-23 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and in Room 151 at KATI Campus on Thursdays.

Math help is available on the main campus in Room C-22 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and in Room 151 at KATI Campus from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 

Appointments

Appointments for TLC can be scheduled by phone or email or via Starfish. To view available times and dates and make an appointment through Starfish, follow the instructions below.

 Log on to Blackboard.

  1. Click the Starfish link on the menu at the left side of the screen.
  2. In the menu at the bottom left labeled “My Success Network,” select the tutor with whom you wish to make an appointment. Math tutors are Jason Dooley, Gulnisa Karadshayeva, and Michael Nichols. Writing tutors are Sam Day, Melissa Costa and Haley Quinton.
  3. Clicking on “See available appointments” below the tutor’s name will bring up a calendar from which you can choose a day and time to make an appointment.
  4. Choose the appropriate time, click “Sign Up” and complete the form. **NOTE: Starfish defaults to Eastern Time. Make sure you've changed your settings to the Central Time Zone.
  5. After appointment is scheduled, you will receive a verification email from Starfish.
