Janel Doyle receiving an award from College President

Meet Janel Doyle

Janel Doyle, Professor - Office Systems Technology

"I am blessed every single day by the presence of our students in my classroom and on campus.  I have a personal philosophy that “Students don’t care what you know …… until they know that you care”.  I am blessed to be a part of the SKYCTC family and blessed to teach our students!    Nothing brings my heart more joy than to see a student succeed in their classes, graduate, and obtain employment!.”

Ms. Doyle knows first-hand the thrills and trials students endure on their journey towards a brighter future. She was once a student at the college receiving her diploma in Business and Office program in 1990. After graduation she accepted a position at the college as an Administrative Assistant in the College Directors office.

A life-long learner, Janel began teaching industry classes (part-time at night) for General Motors and while pursuing her Associate’s Degree.  In 2002, she was hired to teach business courses in the colleges business programs.  Since becoming a faculty member, Janel has earned by Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Education and has completed 18 hours of graduate courses towards a Master’s Degree in Adult Education.

“I am blessed every single day by the presence of our students in my classroom and on campus, says Doyle.  I have a personal philosophy that “Students don’t care what you know …… until they know that you care”.  I am blessed to be a part of the SKYCTC family and blessed to teach our students!    Nothing brings my heart more joy than to see a student succeed in their classes, graduate, and obtain employment!”

As faculty senate chair, she meets with administration to express concerns and ideas from our faculty.

As Regional Toys for Tots Coordinator, Janel canvassed the community, with the help of volunteers, to provide toys to thousands of needy families. She coordinated the efforts at Metals and More to sort toys, gather toys for needy children, and distribute these toys. This was not a weekend project. This effort takes months of evenings not only for her, but her family. This sacrifice goes un-noticed and would not be attempted by the vast majority. The fund raising efforts, the networking needed to accomplish this requires extreme dedication and devotion. It also brings SKYCTC credit when the community sees the volunteers from our campus delivering the only Christmas most of these children will ever enjoy.

Here is just a few of the comments Ms. Doyle’s students had to say about her.

  • When I felt over w helmed with my work home and school life, I talked to her. She is very personable. Anyone can feel at ease in her presence. She encouraged me to take a breath and do my best to accomplish my goals. Her smile was a beacon many days. I appreciate her attitude and encouragement
  • She is always positive and encouraging. She is not only a professor, advisor/mentor but a friend.
She makes sure to respond with feedback via e-mail or phone (both cell and home phone). She makes sure to make our experience at Southcentral the best one yet. There is no giving up with her, no negative thoughts she believes in us and always willing to help us in any way, shape, or form. She communicates with us daily, and checks on us throughout the day, week, and/or year. She gets to know us as her students and not just another number. I would highly recommend her to any and every one!
  • Mrs. Doyle truly cares about her students and their w ell being. She expects your best without making you feel like you are incapable of learning. She has a demeanor that any teacher worth her salt should carry. I respect her as a person as w ell as an instructor. She makes an incredible difference for so many students.
  • As an adviser she helped me get everything together for a smooth transition from semester to
semester, as an instructor I learned so many different things from her and as a person she has inspired me to be the best that I can be.
