1. How long is the Surgical Technology program?
The surgical technology program at Bowling Green Technical College is 2 semesters and 1 summer session in length. There is a fall semester, a spring semester and a 3 week summer session for duration of 10 months total.
2. When are the classes?
All classes for the surgical technology program are daytime classes Monday through Friday. There will be an evening clinical rotation for all students during the program.
3. What are the graduation requirements?
- Completion of all required courses with an average of C or greater in each course.
- Satisfactory completion of all required competency check-offs.
- Scrub a minimum of 125 cases.
- All students must take the national certification exam given by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) to graduate.
- Compliance with all policies present in the KCTCS, BGTC, and Surgical Technology program student handbooks.
4. How do I apply to the program?
- Apply to the college-the admission requirements and an application may be found on the Bowling Green Technical College website homepage under the “Become a Student” tab.
- Once that is complete and you are accepted to the college, you need to schedule an advising appointment with the program director to go over specifics required for admission. This can be accomplished by calling the administrative assistant for the Allied Health division, Lisa Phillips at 270-901-1080.
