Steps for Admission Consideration:
Step 1: Making Application to the Bowling Green Technical College
The following items are required with the application to the college:
- Test Scores - COMPASS or ACT or SAT. (If not you can schedule a test.)
- Copy of GED scores or official high school transcript.
- Completed application with your program name stated.
- Official college transcript. (12 college credits with a 2.0 GPA from an accredited college or university may be accepted in lieu of test scores for admission into the college.)
Any retesting, if needed can be rescheduled through the Assessment Center for a $10 fee each time.
Turn in the completed application with all required forms to Student Services located in Building A.
Missing items will slow the application process and may effect getting registered for classes on time. If you need further assistance you can make an appointment with a representative in Student Services @ 901-1000.
Step 2: Starts with an initial advisement appointment with one of the program faculty. Bring required college transcripts (if any), High School transcript, ACT, SAT, or COMPASS test scores.
Advisement is a required continuous process to ensure all educational requirements are being met. Also to ensure the individual student is academically aligned and taking the correct required courses. It is a two-way communication between the student and one of the program faculty.
The Respiratory Care Program is an Associate degree program and course requirements are mandatory for completion. The National Board of Respiratory Care requires a minimum of an Associate degree to take the entry-level exam.
Step 3: All applications to the program must be submitted by March 1st. Notification will be the first week of April. The program accepts 15 students and 4 as alternates.
Once accepted, all students will be notified by mail. Each student must accept or decline before the deadline indicated in the acceptance letter or their position will be forfeited.
Those students selected will be required to meet with the program faculty for advisement on scheduled times.
**All students accepted into the program must (requirement) complete the following before the first day of class:
- Complete physical, drug screen, and required labs.
- A background investigation form will be completed and submitted.
All requirements will be discussed during the initial class orientation after the selection process.
