Louisville, KY (April 19, 2012) - Bowling Green Technical College was honored as one of the "Best Places to Work in Kentucky" at the 8th Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville.
BGTC ranked 24th in the small to medium category of all the companies and institutions in the state by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (KYSHRM).
The awards program was created in 2005 and is a project of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (KYSHRM) and Best Companies Group.
“This honor is a recognition of our faculty, staff, and administration’s commitment to student success,” said BGTC President Dr. Nathan Hodges. “Job satisfaction of our faculty and staff stems from the gratification they receive helping our students succeed in life.”
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Kentucky, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Places to Work in Kentucky 2012 list is made up of 65 companies.
To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Have at least 25 employees working in Kentucky;
- Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in the state of Kentucky; and
- Must be in business a minimum of 1 year.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process of determining the Best Places to Work in Kentucky. The first part consisted of evaluating each company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Kentucky and also analyzed the data to determine the final rankings.
“Bowling Green Technical College faculty and staff are committed to providing quality education and a positive academic experience,” says Dr. Gerald Napoles, Vice President of Student Affairs at BGTC. “This award is another example of how the BGTC family serve our students, positively contribute to the community, and support one another”.
“At BGTC we strive to put into practice policies that help all employees reach their full potential and reward their efforts,” said Sherri Forester, BGTC’s Director of Human Resources.
